Smiling Thoughts

A face of one I used to know
Infiltration
Of memory,
Dream,
And vision

Your fragrance
Overwhelming the senses
In the dark of my mind
And my hole in the wall
I smile at the thought

Parting was such sorrow
Yet I refuse
To let that be my single recollection
Your laugh
Always haunting me

No matter the future
No matter the scars
Hidden safe from the breeze
You’ll be my reason to smile
Tucked safe

Forever

In the vault of my memory

Sometimes You Don’t Even Look For It

So I was searching YouTube…

Evaluation: Me

The lack of substance
Beats down the soul
Try, try, and try again
Push for little to show

Sit and wonder
Stop and think
Give me that bottle
Cry a bit and drink

Invested I have
In the race of man
I’ve tried to show them
As best I can

That love is action
Not a feeling inside
And love is a decision
In which peace will abide

But little do they care
And rarely stop to think
Another tear falls down my face
As I take another drink

Police Scanner Diaries

Take hold of the thought
Prevalent
Options about which way to think
Flippant

Is all as it seems?
For the source unsteady
Is all as is displayed?
For the actions say maybe

Uncertainty of another choice
Makes the wine taste sweeter
Unknown to me the voice
As it sounds different than I remember

Dead soldiers scattered about
A room filled with all that is
Not really wanted, no way out
Inevitability speaks confrontation

Seek inside for a truth undesired
The altercation in me
Dreamed compendious
Yet more is required

So sit and drink and drink and sing
Of times so long ago
Speak forth of memories
As better than they were

Nostalgia springs forth
Yet undue it proves be
Nostalgia for what
Never once was me

So I sit and think
And listen to those
Over police scanner waves
Be it known once more to me

There will always be struggles, concerns, and complications caused by life and all of its happenings and I know that there will always be those who have it better than I and those who have it worse.  Recognizing the importance of perspective is key to understanding our place in our situations and in making decisions that will alter, be it great or small, our circumstances and our lives.

A Message Deflected

Emotions prove powerful
Supply the energy needed
But without good direction
The energy proves waste

I still read her thoughts
Written down for the world
She said she contacted me
But I did not receive

Why did it miss me?
What caused such a fault?
Thoughts and tears plagued
My soul left distraught

I remember I blocked her
For her word I could not trust
A move to aid in moving on
To set in motion my progression

But such a message sent
Swing and a miss
I never saw the pain she felt
Nor the pain down her face

Kicking myself into the dirt only does so much good and the rest proves futile.  The overwhelming thought is what to do from here…

Last Time

No tear from my eye
Nor grit of the teeth
But a heart once soft
Turns to stone underneath

A simple gesture of friendship
Extend my neck to fill a need
Put my name on the line
To yet be tossed like bad seed

Tis the last time I try
To help my “brother” get ahead
For he returned with a lie
As he would rather lay in bed

Music Bound Harmony

Look upon her and see me
For she is mine and we are one
The reflections viewed simply
As ownership understood
Not taken, nay, freely given
Stolen if by a look took her soul
Kept it wrapped tight forevermore

Her heart moves to the beat of my heart song’s drum
Her eyes flutter to the movement of my caressing tongue
I for her and she for me
Take rhythm that sings in perfect harmony

Nature’s music sits poised on her lips
She sings a song like no other
One never heard by mortal ears before
Fade past the deep of space and time

Contemplative Theory

Preconceived ideas
About how life is supposed to work
Hold little value
When life does what it always has

Maybe we missed something
Maybe we to a leap off the wrong cliff
Maybe we’ll just fall asleep
And dream of distant shores

The ideal rarely takes shape
In the space we’ve decided to give it
Maybe we’re blinded by arrogance
Or maybe we’re just hoping for more

Hurt and tired,
Beaten and broken
A thought consumes
The spacial ravine
That spans across
The dark edges
Of a mind
When the spirit
Has no hope

Next Tuesday Sennight

“When will I see you again?”  A single tear fell from her eye as she asked the question she never wanted to ask.

“Give me a week.  Just a week darling, although I fear it will be an eternity…”  His voice hung in the air as he spoke those words.

“A week?  Must it be so long?  My loins long for you to fill them with your love yet again before you depart.”  Desperate to not let her lover go, she threw herself at him in hopes that he will change his mind.

“I’m sorry,” he said. “How I long to bed you once more before I return, but we mustn’t make this hard than it need be.”

“But I love you…”

“Next Tuesday sennight, look towards the horizon and await my return.”

“Next Tuesday sennight…” she muttered under her breath as she watched him leave, wondering if she would ever see him again.  “Next Tuesday sennight…”

The Story Never Told

“Speak forth from clouds
Still yet dripping with blood
What message have you come here to say?”

“An omen of old, repeated,
Long since been told,
Predicted it would happen this way.”

“But we have not heard
Of these ancient old things
So how can we be yet to blame?”

Tis the fault of your fathers,
Your ancestral brothers,
They have handed to you their bad name.”

“So we are not guilty,
Nor held to their fealty?
For we were not there with our plans!”

“Your arrogance blinding,
Your contract still binding,
And your blood will stain your own hands!”

An excerpt from a book never written…
